The Moonchild – 23rd Part

Karan and Anurag stayed overnight with Hemant Sen. Turn by turn, first Karan and then Anurag went home to take a rest for a while. Anurag arrived at the hospital early to prepare for the HLA test. Back at home, Mohandas and Lakshmi arrived at Samiksha’s in-laws’ house as soon as they learned of the news. They arrived early in the morning so they could be with the family and comfort them during this difficult time. Karan finished his breakfast quickly and left for the hospital. Before leaving, he had a short talk with Samiksha in their room.
“Stressed? My dear wifey?”

“No. Just worried for Dada.”
“Remove anything that is bothering you. At night, your dear Bandhu assured you that all is ok, right?”
“Yes. I will go and see if Chacha Chachi need anything. They almost rushed to come here.”
“I told you not to inform them first. They will panic and rush here. We could have told after the transplant and all. See, how much stress they underwent.”
“Chacha would never forgive me had I not informed them.”
“I know, dear. They are the sweetest souls. Go, see if they need anything. They are sleeping, Baudi told me. I hope they rested for some time.”

He kissed Samiksha on the forehead and left.

Lakshmi consoled Milthila, and Mohandas later went to the hospital with Sumitra and Samiksha. The children forbid Mithila and Lakshmi from coming to the hospital. They asked them to come later.
Hemant Sen has been a bit mellow over the past two days due to his health condition. Anurag had informed him about the medical problem he was facing.

Karan arrived at the hospital, and just a short time later, Mohandas arrived with Sumitra and Samiksha.
“Karan, are you ready for the test?” Anurag asked his brother.
“Yes. Let me go first, and then you do it.”
“But why not me first?”
“Let us not argue and waste time. Let me go first,” Anurag finally agreed, and they started towards the pathology laboratory.

“Even I am eligible for the test, Dada.”

Poorna’s familiar voice turned Karan and Anurag’s heads.
“Poori?” She stood there firmly with Rex and Joy.
“When your brothers are there, you need not worry, my darling sister.” Karan took Poorna in his arms.

“No, Dada, even I will do the test.”

“Mom had breakfast and came. Don’t worry. She will cure Dada.” Joy stepped forward and told Karan and Anurag.
Anurag lifted him in his arms at once. “Rex, I must say you both have transformed this kid into a living angel.” He kissed Joy on his cheek and kept him down. ” Come, Karan. Let us go. Poorna, let us test first.”

Rex patted Poorna’s shoulder. “She hadn’t slept the whole night. I have somehow kept her at home and refrained from coming at night.
“Baba will be fine, right, Anurag?” She broke into tears inconsolably. The men consoled her, made her sit on the sofa. Meanwhile, Samiksha and Sumitra came there. They were in the lobby talking on the phone with Mithila.

Poorna ran into Samiksha’s arms as soon as she saw her.

“Calm down, my braveheart.” Samiksha comforted her. “Everything is going to be fine. Trust me?”
Poorna nodded and wiped her tears.

Karan and Anurag left for the laboratory. The test was done, and all waited for the reports. Joy was with Mohandas. He saw a fish tank and told him immediately. “Come, Dada. Let us go there.”
“Alright. Let me inform Samiksha first, or they will keep searching.”
“No. First let us go.” Joy pulled his hand and took him towards the fish tank.

As Joy admired the tiny fish in the round tank, he saw a glass window next to him. He peeped through the window.
“Look. Dada is here.” He pointed at Hemant Sen.
“Oh yes, but we will meet him later, ok?”
“No. Just now. Mom says, We must attend to a sick person immediately.” He caught his hand and took him to the ward.

Mohandas opened the door slowly. Joy rushed in impatiently. A nurse was seated next, and Hemant Sen was awake. He looked toward the door to find Mohandas and Joy standing there.
