With Love To My Sisters

He cannot be everywhere, so God created mothers.
And mothers cannot be everywhere, so He created sisters.

I came after you in this world to seek your love, so pure and so real.
You showed me this world is so beautiful and surreal.

Our parents had to divert their attention when they found out I would arrive.
The care you received before indeed was split, and we became a family of five.

We spent our childhood playing, exploring, arguing, teasing, learning and unlearning.

We grew up together gracefully, and now we understand each other without speaking.

But I am sorry, my dear sisters, for my absence in the battles you fought alone.
I attained sense and sensibility before I came into this world and was grown.

I am sorry that I failed to hear your unsaid plea or word.
You know, sometimes I’m a complete nerd.

I am sorry that I failed to understand the love behind your concern when I was growing up.
You stopped me from going down the wrong and ugly roads, never giving up.

The mistakes in my teenage years led me to suffer.
Having your back made me more resilient and tougher.

I am sorry I got upset when you were stern about my studies.

Little did I know that it was one of your many responsibilities.

You refrained from everything you knew wasn’t right for me.
But all you got was angry looks and heart-wrenching lash back as I thought you were my enemy.

Due to our age gap, I sometimes fail to understand the depth of your love and concern.
You are much milder than my tendency to be adamant and stubborn.

I am sorry that you had to suffer pain without my awareness.
I am sorry I was not there to wipe your tears, and that you had to face it alone, with a rock-solid heart and endurance.

My heart thanks you for all your attempts to make me smile.
Even when you, too, were putting up with your life for a while.

People call me caring, sweet and warm.
Little do they know that the goodness I have is from you, dear sisters and mom.
