Karan stood there with a familiar necklace in his hands. He held it in front of her, looking intensely into her beautiful eyes. She touched it softly with her fingers and instantly recalled its first sight. It was from the same shop near Forno Beach, where they had met last time.
“What should I say?” Emotions overflowed Samiksha as she spoke.
“Whatever you feel.”
“Why did I fail to see what you felt for me, Karan?”
“This is destiny’s play. I want you to understand one thing, Samiksha. Do not regret what happened in the past. You know what I mean?”
“No. I felt like I should have exchanged my number with you that night. We would have had a chance to know and understand each other. Maybe I would have left Roshan and chosen you over him. Or even you would not have opted for this life then.”
“Relax, Samiksha. First, never ever use ‘would have. ‘ Okay. Because that moment has already passed. We act as per our destined fate. If everyone chooses the right path by default, people will never know the importance of things or people. Second, look at what is in front of you. Always.”
Samiksha uttered without a thought.
“You.”
“Pardon me.”
“I am seeing what is before me, Karan.”
“Samiksha, you know what I do. My work, I meant.”
“I did not get you.”
“I was an abductor.”
“What do you mean I was?”
“I have decided to surrender.”
Samiksha stared at him in anticipation.
“I had a word with my men. I am going to do this at the earliest.”
“May I know the reason behind this?”
He traced a hair back from her forehead slowly.
“You and Mom.” She smiled at his answer.
“I need to keep myself safe, for you and mom’s sake. It’s not going to be an easy ride. Police will arrest me. But I have to undergo this as penance. So easily, I found an excuse to abduct people. But resisting that urge to take revenge would have changed my life. I chose an easier path. But now it’s time to choose the right one.”
Samiksha placed her hands on his. “I am with you.”
With his glance, he enveloped her hands and assured her of a beautiful future.
“But did all your members agree to this? It’s not going to be easy for them, too.”
“In that case, I am truly blessed. They agreed to support me and surrender.”
Saniksha swiped her hair to one side of her neck and turned back slowly. Karan smiled and placed the necklace around her lovely neck. “That day, I decided to put this necklace around your neck.” Saying this, he made her face him.
Cupping her face in his hands,
he uttered the three magical words. “I love you, Samiksha.”
She reciprocated by nodding and resting her head against his firm, protective chest.
“Samiksha, your parents will be worrying about you.”
“I know. But we need to show the true face of Roshan to them.”
“Alright. I know what is to be done.” Karan left the room after kissing her forehead.
As Roshan paced in his room, he heard his phone ring.
“Who is this?”
“Karan.”
“Tell me. What is the next move, man?”
“Let us meet in the afternoon. Did you speak to her parents? Hope they agreed?”
“But of course. See you at noon.”
