Mother Has Become Quiet Nowadays

When her child was born,
She was bestowed with the title of ‘mother. ’
Taking care of her little one,
She forgot that she, too, has a future.

Before the child asked, his wish was granted.
He grew up, and in full swing, his career started.
Two cents equalled treasure in childhood.
But the costliest of things also looked petty in adulthood.

The child is married now, with a family of his own.

Time for the mother was reduced even more,
With the introduction of the mobile phone.
My child will speak a few words with me beside,
This expectation of the mother slowly slid aside.

Conversation with the children,
It is a matter of the past now.
She keeps herself busy in one or the other ways.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

When the daughter got married and got busy in her own life,
She forgets she is a daughter too, not only a wife.
Mother smiles and blesses the happy couple from a corner.
Does not let them know that her medicines are over.
She prays for them anyways.
But Mother has become quiet nowadays.

The daughter enjoys a lavish life,

Assumes that the mother might be leading a similar one too.
She hides her pain as always,
Because Mother has become quiet nowadays.

The kids are now busy with their lives,
She still takes care of the smallest of their needs.
But suppresses hers in her own ways.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

For the most minor mistakes,
Her tiny tots always apologised.
But even the sins committed now go unrecognised.
A mom forgives with her broken heart anyways.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

On hearing a sneeze from her kids,

Mother used to spend sleepless nights.
But children are too busy to see,
If the mother has switched off the lights.
She misses them during the nights as well as the days.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

When the daughter goes on a foreign trip,
She assures her that she will get this and that.
But she refuses to take her along to the scenic beaches and bays.
No doubt, Mother has become quiet nowadays.

Mom also yearns to travel,

Step out of the four walls,
Spend some moments with the kids she raised.
Instead, she spreads blessings and wishes in their pathways.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

During times of need, she was her grandchildren’s babysitter.
But after growing up, they quickly forgot their grandmother.
They forgot these very wrinkled hands served them in their infancy.
Provided warmth, which their parents were supposed to.
When both were busy earning money,
This very grandmother fed her morsel to the kids when they were tiny.

She still loves all her kids as before.

Showers them with blessings more and more.
Wishes to speak and express her feelings.
But she chooses to keep them sideways.
Mother has become quiet nowadays.

Please stop the show off on Mother’s Day.
Instead of buying her expensive decor,
Give her your time and attention some more.
Speak to her.
Ask her how she is.
What are her wishes?
If possible, understand her silence,
Because she will not speak.
As her feelings have turned to ashes.

Children find time to party, chat and post reels.

But they are too busy to see how their mother feels.
Now that her heart has suffered in several ways,
You know why Mother has become quiet nowadays.
