The Longest Wait – 8th Part (Conclusion)

He was sitting on the outdoor ac unit comfortably. But my heart pounded and almost stopped thinking. We decided to call the ac service person as they are trained to climb on the sunshade of the apartment. My sister called one and he was ready to come.

We tried to give him his favourite treat, which he tried to lick but from that place itself. He did not try to come inside through the window bars as he was comfortable there. Finally, I ran inside our worship room and took the idol of God. I came to the room, where our cat was outside. Kneeling down, I prayed to the power, which everyone bows down to. Even my mom and sister were praying to the Almighty.

I just told Him,

Please send him inside safely. As if the prayers reached up above, our cat slowly got up and started towards the window bars. Our prayers were going on. He slowly walked towards the first bar, turned and twisted, as cats are flexible and got inside the room.

That is it. I burst into tears and thanked Him whole heartedly. My mom and sister are ardent believers in God, so they knew he will come inside safely. But as my faith shakes with blows and hardships, I was shocked how swiftly the cat came inside the room through those bars.

My tears did not stop. But that moment, I realised there is some power which has control over everything, and I mean everything.

Nothing is bigger than that power.

From that moment, something changed inside me. I knew, He is there. Slowly, I started becoming a bit care free, with regards to my missing cat, Divine. I knew, he is taken care of, for sure. And, I prayed, where ever he is, please take care of him, give him food and keep him safe.

I let go, for the first time in my life maybe. It was 21st of October. Diwali had started. All around, there was celebration and pompous atmosphere. But I was not in a mood to celebrate, for sure.

Even if I left the well being of Divine on God, I couldn’t smile and laugh as I did. I had given up eating my favourite, any fried stuff.

I had refused to eat any Diwali sweet or food either.

On 22nd, after finishing our lunch, we laid down for a nap. My sister and I were seeing our cell phones. It was around 3 pm. She got a call from someone. It was one person she had met while searching for Divine, in the garden area opposite to our previous rented home. He said there is one cat, who resembles Divine as per the description on the printed posters. My sister immediately got up from the setti and gestured at me.

He sent photos and video of that cat. Those who are cat lovers, they must agree that cats of same shades look similar. It is very difficult to distinguish between two cats who have similar patches of colours on fur. We had not seen Divine since almost four months now.

But we both felt, this cat looks similar to Divine. She requested him to hold the cat there till we reach. As cats are restless in nature, its not easy to hold them in one place, especially for strangers . We just got up, changed clothes within seconds, took cage and left home, after seeking mom’s and God’s blessings.

My heart was racing in the auto rikshaw.

Seeing my restlessness, my sister calmede down. As we reached the garden, we both walked fast inside. There were these two boys in their twenties, with cat food in hands. And four cats were roaming near them. We saw the cat resembling to Divine. I was unsure, but as soon as he climbed on my sister’s lap, she told me, he is our Divine. Trust me, I couldn’t recognise him. We had carried his favourite treat. He instantly started licking it as soon as he saw it.

We had kept the cage door open and kept in on the ground. He slowly walked towards the cage and went inside. Sitting inside, he looked relaxed. We found our Divine. Thanking those boys endlessly, we left from there, with Divine. They were very happy for us.

In the auto rikshaw, he mewed in between as the sound of vehicles and the movement was a bit panicking for him. We pacified him by talking to him throughout.

We called our third sister and informed her about this good news.

She jumped with joy, and informed my niece about this. We all were thrilled. God helped us, again. As we reached home, mom was happy to see us three. We removed him from the cage, and he knew, it was his home. He had come back to his own home. After months of struggles and wait, he had made it. Only God knows what he had been through in this time period. What all he had faced and seen.

My mom fed me a Diwali sweet. After all she is a mother and her children eating their favourite food was her biggest joy. I ate the sweet happily. Hugging my sister, I thanked her. She was the one, who went out to search him daily, endlessly, tirelessly.

We wiped his feet and his body properly. The main part was, he had not forgotten us and other cats, at all. Later after eating, he slept on the sofa. Relaxed, peacefully and without any fear.

God had proved to me once again, I am there. My Divine had returned back, into our lives. This was probably the longest wait I had endured till date. Even if it was painful, the wait ended on a happy note.

I pray to God, He gives patience and strength to all those who are waiting, for something or the other.
