The Longest Wait – 5th Part

It was evening. My sister had just returned from her job. I got a call from an unknown number. Usually, I don’t answer unknown calls. But since my and my sister’s numbers were on the posters, I took the call. A lady was on the other end asking me about the poster. She said she had seen a similar cat in the vicinity. She video-called and searched for that cat. Cats are very restless and don’t stay in one place long. While she was looking for it, our hearts beat fast, thinking we had found him. She spotted the cat and showed it to us. Unfortunately, it wasn’t him. But she assured us she would contact us again if she spotted him, as she was from the same area. I disconnected the phone with a broken heart.

The next day, we received another call regarding Divine. The caller sent the cat’s photo, but we were again disappointed. We received nearly four calls within a week, but things didn’t work out. But one thing was for sure: the idea of posters made people look for our Divine. Not everyone is an animal lover, but some genuinely care for these voiceless angels. We got proof of the same. One day, my sister’s colleague told her about animal communicators.

The concept of animal communication was entirely new for us.

They telepathically connect to the animals and can communicate with them. This is what we heard about them. The colleague had given the contact of one animal communicator(AC). My sister talked to her and fixed an appointment. The AC asked her for details about Divine, such as his date of birth, when he got lost and how this happened. She gave her the details, and we waited for the appointment time. When that moment came, my sister started talking with her and the chat continued for about an hour. After it was over, she said the AC communicated with Divine. She informed me he was safe and in the same area where he got lost.

Under normal circumstances, we might shun the idea of a person communicating with an animal, especially one that is far and lost. But we had no choice but to trust, to believe. Whatever the AC said, we were at least sure that Divine was safe.

My sister regularly went to the area with his favourite food.

She used to call out his name and shake the dry food packet so that he could hear the sound. Maybe he would come out of his hiding place hearing the packet sound and the call of his name. She did this religiously, daily. Through Instagram, we found contacts of some more animal communicators. We hunted the best ones through Google search. My sister used to communicate with them, take appointments, and attend them. I avoided getting into this for two reasons.

One, I was not in a state to hear anything that could trouble my mind. Two, I was not practical enough to accept things as they were. Fear had enveloped my mind like a cobweb. Praying to the Supreme Power is what one does in such helpless situations. But my fight with Him prevented me from approaching. In fact, I used to question Him: Why did he put me through so much pain? Why is He not helping my sister to search Divine? I was fiercely angry with Him.

My life had turned miserable. Several pains engulfed my existence.

The loss of my dog, resigning from my job, inability to earn and the latest was my fault in losing Divine. I rarely talked to my family members. The ultimate sufferers were my Mom and my sister. I forgot entirely that we three were for each other. We shared a beautiful, close bond. And now everything had turned cold, like my behaviour. I took a decision. We should not have food from outside, that is, from restaurants, till we find Divine. Also, do not eat fried foods. Both types are my favourites. So I decided to give up till I saw him again.

Meanwhile, my sister contacted several more animal communicators and tarot card readers. They used to assure me that he was safe. He is surviving outside. Divine has always been a happy-go-lucky one. He used to enjoy playing alone. Sleeping for hours was his hobby. When other kittens played, he was in his dreamland. All the people whom my sister contacted said one common thing. Divine is wise enough to care for himself, making this new experience an adventure. My mom was sure he had adjusted outside. My sister assured me day and night that she would find him. She used to tell me to have faith in God. But that was the last thing on my mind. I had only one wish left in my life. To see Divine, once.
