Simplicity – An Outdated Virtue

What is simplicity? My discussion of simplicity here is about someone who is simple at heart and believes everything said to them. Such people are not fools. They are innocent and pure like a dew drop. Though simplicity is an outdated virtue, it is still a virtue.

When you say you are simple, be one.

The fact is, you cannot try to become straightforward. Either you are simple, or you are not. Simple people pay a heavy price for having this quality. Trusting the person/ persons in front of him or her is a virtue such people are born with. Whatever is said to them, they accept or believe. They don’t dissect the sentences or words told to them. They neither doubt what is said nor do they analyze.

The sad part is that such people are often taken for granted.

People mock them behind their backs. Making faces to one another while in conversation with such people is common. But simple people ignore these guile behaviours. One reason is to save relationships, and the other is that they are too good to fall to the level of the mocking people. They notice but choose to forget it.

Cunning people often make fools out of simple, innocent people. They overpower them, tease them, and make fun of them. But it’s their choice. As I said, you are either simple or not. If you are simple, you can never be cunning. When you know you are a simple person, trust me, it’s a virtue few people possess. You can say it’s an extinct virtue.

Simple People Feel Everyone Is Good Like Them

As days pass by,

The world is becoming more competitive. Everyone wants to lead. People wish to have fun and enjoy themselves. Everything is acceptable if you are not hurting or fooling someone. To fool someone to get your work accomplished is to cheat. Be it the workplace or home, if you are playing with someone or fooling them with your tricks and gimmicks, beware.

Karma is as real as the sun, wind, and rain. What you have done will be returned. The best part of being simple and naive is that you can sleep with a light heart, without the burden of having played or backstabbed someone. It’s another thing that such people keep thinking, have I hurt someone? 24/7.

Isn’t it a funny thing

that artificial, guileful people exist so effortlessly. They behave as if nothing happened. After lying and cheating upon someone, they walk with their heads high. High heels are acceptable; they will trouble only your back. But walking with high heads, too, after being manipulative, is unacceptable. It will affect the peace and heart of the person you have exploited. The one you have manipulated might forgive you, but nature won’t. Nature gives back. People don’t realize.

The moral of the story is that if you get fooled but still don’t fool others, you are on the right track. If you get manipulated but still choose not to be manipulative, then big cheers to you. If others mock and make fun of you, but you have maintained cordial relations with them, trust me. Humanity is still alive only because of people like you. After getting backstabbed, if forgetting is what you choose, then you are rare.

Rare.

This is what simplicity and simple people are. So, choose the latter in the proportion of 99 to 1, which is artificial and straightforward. As I said, being simple is an outdated virtue. If you are still carrying this legacy, be proud of yourself.
