The morning sun was beautiful for all except Samiksha. She fell into a deep sleep at night after constantly praying and pleading to God. After banging on the closed door, she lost her hope in the dark night. Samiksha was unaware when she slept with swollen teary eyes in the vast room alone.
The clicking sound on the opening of the door awakened her. She rubbed her eyes and looked towards the door. The same woman who had brought her food last night was standing with a breakfast tray in her hand. She approached the bed slowly and kept the tray on the table beside it. The untouched food she served last night did not go unnoticed. While she poured the tea into a cup, Samiksha managed to get up. Placing her hand on the woman’s, she uttered,
“Please help me. I beg you. Let me go from here. My family is waiting for me.”
“I understand your condition, girl. But I am helpless. My job is to serve whoever is brought here. The master decides the entry and exit of all the captives here.”
“Captive? Am I a captive? What do you mean?”
“You are brought here for a purpose. When the purpose is served, you will be released. Don’t worry; no one will harm or disregard you here. I assure you of that.
Samiksha looked at her helplessly.
“But when you leave from here, you should be able to walk alone. For that, you will need energy. So you have to eat properly for the same. Take, have some food.”
Somehow, her words affected Samiksha, and she slowly got up from the bed. Taking the teacup from her hand, she sipped the tea. After eating the biscuits, she looked around the room.
“There is the bathroom. Take a bath. You will feel fresh,” she continued, pointing towards a cupboard. The clothes there are for you, OK?”
Saying this, she started to leave.
“Why am I here?”
“I have no idea. But you will come to know.” The woman said this and left.
Samiksha was too worn out to think, so she acted as the woman instructed. She went to the bathroom and noticed the intricate designs of the tiles on the walls. They were beautiful but seemed melancholic to her. She moved her fingers on the tiles as if to know why they were mournful. The shower and bathtub all emitted the same dreary vibration. Her eyes focused on a similar design on each of the tile works. It reminded her of some designs, but she was unsure which ones were the best. Her tired brain refused to cooperate in remembering what she tried to. Instead of pondering more about the whereabouts of the design, she decided to immerse herself in the warm running waters of the shower.
She closed her eyes and
let the water wipe away her fears, worries and trauma for a while. Suddenly, she rubbed her eyes and hated herself for feeling at ease in the very mansion where she was abducted and kept, forcefully. Consequently, a rage of guilt rushed in her veins, and she hurried out of the shower. Changing to a new dress, she sat on the vast bed, looking for an option to do something. But what? She closed her eyes and tried to remember memories that would make her smile. But she couldn’t.
At the hotel, Roshan sat on a couch with Samiksha’s parents. Her mom refused to eat, but Rahul Sharma convinced his wife with wise words.
“Look, dear, not eating or crying is not going to bring our daughter back to us. Instead, you should take care of yourself so that when she returns, she finds her mother in good health. I would leave no stone unturned in locating her. But you must put some faith in me and stay strong.”
She hugged him and let her emotions flow through tears. Sobbing, she ate some food. Rahul gestured for Roshan to come out and leave the room after his wife had fallen asleep.
“Roshan, I think we should inform the local police.”
“No, uncle. I don’t think it’s a good idea. Somehow, we might end up putting Samiksha’s life at risk. Let us not hurry. My instinct says so. Trust me.”
“Means?”
“I don’t know, but it’s my gut feeling.”
Though not wholeheartedly, Roshan agreed to his future son-in-law and headed back to his room.
In the afternoon,
Samiksha ate some food as she was not in a state to refuse anymore. She went towards a closed window. Noticing a latch upwards, she opened it quickly and pushed its doors.

The daylight seemed to pierce her eyes as she saw it after long. But the thought of jumping out of the window and running back to her family was ruled out. She noticed the height of the place where she was standing. It was nearly 7 floors up, as she estimated. She knew she was not very far from the Forno Beach. She roughly remembered the distance she travelled from the beach to this mansion.
Apart from height, another significant and irresolvable issue was that bodyguards stood nearly everywhere. Soon, she realised it was not only difficult but almost impossible to get out on her own. As she moved her gaze from one end to the other, she noticed a considerable maroon sofa chair surrounded by five chairs. All of those were occupied. The considerable sofa chair was inhabited by a tall person. As the chair was facing opposite her, she could not see him. But his tall height made a part of his head visible from behind.
It occurred to her
as if all were listening keenly to what he was saying. Suddenly it struck her mind, what if he was the ‘master’ the woman was referring to. Is he the one who gave orders to abduct me?
Reluctant to control, she screamed to the top of her voice,
“Let me go from here. Leave me.”
All the heads turned to the window from which she shouted. Two men immediately ran towards the mansion’s entry door. When she screamed again, the man seated on the maroon sofa slowly got up.
He turned his neck toward the window. The sun’s glare made it difficult for Samiksha to see his face. Yet she managed to catch a small glimpse, though unclear. Tall, bearded, cold as ice, he looked straight into her eyes. She could feel their blaze from afar.

He signalled his henchmen with his finger and pointed towards the window. But she shouted again,
“Let me go. Why am I here? Please let me go.”
The door of her room opened, and a man entered. He gestured for her to get aside. As she did so, he closed the window.
“Master has said you can only see the view from this window. You cannot scream or shout standing there. Please remember this.”
He started to leave.
“What if I don’t do what your ‘master’ says?” She air-quoted the word with her two fingers.
“Then master will deal with you personally.”
“OK then.” Saying this, she opened the window again.
“Tell your master to deal personally with me now. Instead of sending his paid people, ask him to come and talk himself.”
“As you wish.” Saying these three words, he exited the room.
