Concluding Part – Woven Fates

“I forgot to tell you that the receipt I found for the ring is ancient; hence, the lettering is unclear.”
Samar announced, leaving everyone in a bit of dismay.
“Don’t worry, Dad, we will figure out something.”
“I hope we get the ring back, as I wish it is back again on the finger of its rightful owner.”
Samar looked at Suniti with deep, love-filled eyes as he said these words.
Karan and Samiksha exchanged a glance, naughty and filled with commitment simultaneously.

“So, let us get ready to go back to Panjim. I have to resume my job, and Samiksha, too, will have to return to her cake shop.”
“Yes. But I wish to see the dream wedding of these soulmates first, at their dream destination. Mayem Lake. Right, ma?”
Suniti blushed in response and rested her head on Samar’s shoulder.
“In that case, I will talk to my boss and get everything worked out. Now, let us get ready.”
Everyone started packing to go back to Panjim.

All of them

entered Benny’s office in the morning with excitement and joy.
“Oh ya, Karan. I am glad to see you all. Please have a seat.”
“Hello, Benny. Same feelings. Meet my dad, Mr. Samar Khanna and my mom Mrs. Suniti Khanna.”
Samiksha and Suniti were startled at this introduction. Needless to say, it made them the happiest people in the world.

Samar said, “Hello, Benny. Without wasting time, I would like to show you the proof you need from the owner of the Lover’s Ring. Here is the receipt and Suniti. ” He looked at her and continued, “Show him your photos with the ring on.”

She gave him the photos, and they all waited for Benny’s verdict. He scrutinised all the papers and pictures and thought for a while.
“Hmm. I agree that this photo shows the ring on her hand, but duplicates are readily available. You know of such rare, precious ornaments. I have seen the history of this ring. It’s one of its kind and era.

The Lover’s Stone

The diamonds embedded, the pearls placed, and the gold used are so precious that we must ensure that the claimants are genuine and not fake.”
Samar spoke sternly and tried to talk on hearing this statement, but Karan stopped him.
“Did you see this receipt?” Karan pointed at the paper on the desk.
“I did see. But the letters are so blurry, you know. I think even you can notice it.”

They all looked at each other

And Karan spoke ultimately.
“Sorry to say, Benny, but it’s understood that the paper will not be in its original condition after so many years. A storm struck Bicholim five years ago. Unfortunately, water splashed on a part of our house, damaging the things inside the cupboard. The paper was destroyed by a terrible mishap. Regarding the photo, you cannot deny that it’s the same ring.

“Finally, there is a virtue called faith. Do you really think this man is lying? Making false claims?”
“Karan, relax. You know the world doesn’t work based on emotions and feelings. It works on the grounds of solid proof and witnesses. These pictures and paper do not prove that this ring belongs to Mr. Samar.”
There was a silence in the room.

Samar let out a sigh and spoke.

“Can you describe the ring? If you have seen it keenly, you should be able to do this without any hesitation.”
Benny let out a laugh and continued,
“But of course, sir. As I said before, the diamonds, pearls and gold used are rare and costly.”
He turned around the ring and looked confidently at Samar.

“That is all? Any other details of it?”
Benny turned the ring around and scrutinised it with his magnifying glass.
“Sir, you are trying to confuse me with your words. I described it as it is.”
Samar smiled and looked at Benny with a strange calm and resilience.

The silence in the room mystified everyone more.
“Dad, what are you talking about?” Karan could not hide his curiosity.
Samar smiled and spoke further after keeping his hand on Suniti, who was panicked by the series of questions and doubts.
“The ring has a secret opening,” he announced.
Benny looked again at the ring and laughed nervously this time.

Samar asked firmly to Benny.

“May I see my ring?”
Benny was even more nervous now and handed over the ring to Samar.
Every pair of eyes was focused on Samar as he acquired the ring from Benny.
Samar looked at the ring and twirled it around with a twinkling smile.
He carefully handed it over to Benny again.
“I would like you to see it yourself.”
Benny straightened his tie and asked, “What?”

“The unique feature of this ring is that only the maker and I know it.”
All were anxious about this exciting revelation made.
“And what is that?” Benny asked with anticipation.

Samiksha gave a curious look to Karan.

Samar said firmly, “See the centre of the ring from beneath. It has an opening. Go on, open it.”
Benny fidgeted with his fingers and somehow managed to find the opening of that ring. It did exist.
“Open it. You will find a note inside.”
Benny did as asked and was shocked to find one inside. Samar continued,

“The note reads

… um but that is for the owner of the ring. Only she has the right to see those words.”
He gave a romantic look to Suniti, “Isn’t it love?”
Karan and Samiksha smiled at each other romantically at the situation’s intensity. Samiksha gestured to Karan to take tips on romance from his father. Karan nodded as if he had read her thoughts.

“Will you hand over the ring to its rightful owner?”
Without a word, Benny did as asked.
“The note is for you, love. Go ahead. Read it.”
Suniti carefully removed the note and unfolded it. It read,

I belong to you
My Dear Suniti’

Suniti’s eyes filled with joy as she read Samar’s heartfelt note.
“Well. Benny, if you need more proof, I can bring the maker of this ring here. In fact, I had planned to do so, but I thought this was a matter of people and hearts and not merely a lost-found treasure.”
“No, sir, that won’t be needed. The ring definitely belongs to you. Here is its case.”

Samar shook hands

with Benny like a true gentleman, leaving the office with immense relief and joy.
They headed back to Bikholim. After properly planned preparations, Samar and Suniti’s dream wedding took place at their dream destination, Mayem Lake.

Karan and Samiksha entwined their fingers and saw their parents unite in the blissful atmosphere blessed by Almighty Himself.
“Hmm, what is your dream destination, wifey?”
“I am not yet okay, your wifey,” giggling Samiksha replied.
“I too wish to marry here Karan.”
“You could have told me this, and we would be standing next to our parents, exchanging vows, my love.”

“No, Karan. I wanted this moment to be just theirs. Look at them. Soulmates do exist. And they look like these,” Samiksha said, wiping off her tears of joy.
“I love you so much, Samiksha.”
“I love you too Karan.”

The lovers embraced in the backdrop of two soulmates who were united eternally for just a few minutes. Fighting against the odds of fortune and destiny, they had re-discovered their love. Destiny plays a part, but soulmates find each other, no matter what. The four souls were drenched in the bliss of happiness and love in the serene place, their hearts echoing. After all, true love triumphs.
