Part 2 – Her Heart Therapist

The following day, Samiksha was upset as her father did not meet her before bed. While surfing through her phone, she heard a horn on the premises. Eventually, when the sound repeated more than once, she wondered what it was. Samiksha jumped out of bed and peeped through her window curtains.

Mahesh Varma

was standing next to a shining, dazzling black Audi,
Samiksha’s eyes sparkled at the black beauty, and she ran downwards with jet speed.

Eventually, she hugged her dad tight and kissed him on his cheek.
“You are the most wonderful, cute, sweetest dad. I love you, Dad,” Samiksha told her father and eyed her Audi with admiration.
“All yours,” Mahesh swayed his hand towards the beauty and said to his daughter.
“Is this the gift for my entering the finals of football?” she asked with anxiety.
“Well, I don’t need a reason to gift you anything. But Madhu told me about your win last night. I came to your room, but you were fast asleep. I didn’t want to disturb my princess. Congrats, by the way.” He lovingly swiped a hair from her forehead.
“I love you, Dad,” she embraced him with joy.

“Did you like your car?”
Samiksha blinked her eyes playfully and nodded.
“I hope you will handle it with care and responsibility, sweetheart, unlike your Mercedes,” Mahesh said with a smirk.
“Dad, there were a few scratches on it, that’s all.”
“Hmm. Luckily. Despite dashing it several times, right?”
“Dad!”
“Baby, learn to keep your cool, at least while driving. I am not worried about the vehicle. If anything happens to you, what will Madhu and I do?”
“Don’t worry, Dad, I will take care,” she said in a pampered tone.

“So you saw your gift?

Madhu joined the father-daughter duo.

“Yes, mum, it’s beautiful.”
“And what about the care and precautions she has to take while handling this beauty?” Madhu asked Mahesh, referring to the minor accidents that had happened before.
“Don’t worry, Madhu; she has promised me.”
“I didn’t promise you anything, Dad. I just assured you that it was okay. Now I have to rush to my college. Bye, both of you. I love you loads.” And she left.

“What? I can’t even imagine something like this. This is impossible. You think I will marry my baby to a person who cannot give her this lifestyle?”
“Mahesh, we never know.”
“Now come on, I am hungry, and I have to leave. Is breakfast ready? By and large, my princess will go to a King.” Mahesh dragged her by hand into the house.

Samiksha’s preparation for the football finals was in full swing. Her team was high-spirited like her, and they left no stone unturned for the event. It was Friday, and her match was on Monday.

Inside the girl’s standard room.

“Hey, we will celebrate a winner bash party tonight on Monday. And it will be from me,” one of her teammates said.
“No. Your captain takes up this charge. The party will be from my side,” Samiksha retaliated at once.
“Cool guys, let us not jump to conclusions. Our opponent team is from TR College. Do not underestimate them. They have played equally well and reached this point,” Radha, a balanced player on the team, said to the rest.
“Come on, Radha, we nailed it in the semi-final, and there is no doubt about it for the finals,” another player said confidently.
“I think Radha is right,” said Jolly, a spectator.

“Hi Sam,” there was a voiceover from the door side.
Samiksha found this voice familiar as well as irritating.
“You?” She screamed on seeing Raj Sinha at the door.
“Can I talk to you for a moment?”
Samiksha looked at Jolly, who was already tensed.

“Today an ambulance is sure to visit our college,” a furious Samiksha informed Jolly and walked towards him.
“Hi,” Raj said with a smile.
“Listen. I am not interested in you. So please back off.” Samiksha said, gesturing a scissor-cut sign to him.

“What impresses you then?”
“Nothing”.
Raj gave her a curious look.
“Means?”
“That is my answer. I don’t need anything to impress me. Your persona should alone be enough to do that?”
Raj was still puzzled.
“Got it? I guess not. Bye. Girls, I am on the ground for the practice.” Samiksha left the standard room with her bag.

“Jolly dear,

Please help me to win her sweetheart. Can’t you give me some tips to impress her?”
“I thought you must have understood what is on her mind. To be very frank, no man has ever succeeded in impressing Samiksha. I am sorry. Try your luck somewhere else,” and Jolly followed her friend.
Reluctant to give up, Raj left.

Monday finally arrived. Samiksha was calm, but Madhu was a bit quiet and restless.
“Mum, all fine?”
“Hmm, yes. Please don’t lose your calm, ok? Concentrate on your match and play fair.”
“My dearest mum. Don’t worry about that. I am the captain and think overall when I am on the ground. You have to agree,” she hugged Madhu.

Madhu cupped her face in her palms,
“Take care, ok. I don’t know,w but my heart is beating fast today.”
“Mum, you overthink. Please stop that and go to the garden. Spend some time there with your beloved plants. Or are you coming to see my match?” Samiksha asked with excitement.

“Out of question. I cannot see you struggling like that, others pushing and falling over you. I just can’t.”
Samiksha burst into laughter and picked up her backpack.
“Alright then. I am off. Have to reach on time. I wish Dad was here. His trip to Australia had to come up now only. Anyways, see you this evening. We will be going for a celebration after the match.”
Samiksha hugged her and left the house.

The match

was about to begin, and the teammates were in full zeal and enthusiasm. Each was talking about the strategies they would be using in the game. Their coach, Mr. Shyam, entered the room, and, clapping his hands, he gathered his teammates to make an announcement.
“Girls, may I have your attention, please? You all know that today’s winning team will get a chance to compete at the Zonal level. Samiksha, my dear, no one can plan strategies like you do, so work on that. And all my girls, I wish to see you all competing at the Zonal level.”

The match began, and so did the cheering in the audience. Students of both colleges tried their best to cheer their respective teams by holding banners and swaying pom poms. The players were trying their best to beat the other team, and the excitement levels were soaring.

Samiksha was a tough nut, and the opponent team was trying their best to stop her. In light of this, one of them used her strength to stop Samiksha, resulting in a very bad fall. Consequently, her leg was badly twisted and hurt. The players gathered around her at once.

Samiksha

cried in pain, and the medical help arrived. Subsequently, they realised that the fall was actually nasty, and hence, she was moved to a hospital immediately to avoid complications. While Jolly accompanied her and two professors, Madhu was informed immediately.

“What? Is she fine? How did this happen? I am moving right now. Which hospital did you say?”
“Merciful Hands in Bandra. It is near our college,” Jolly somehow rushed her words.
Madhu left for the hospital straight away.
