Part 14 – The Lovers

“I am sorry that I had to visit your home this way,” Maria said to Rose with a pause.
“Yes, you can talk,” Rose replied with an expressionless face.
On the contrary, Maria was fidgeting with her fingers, and a sign of nervousness appeared on her face. But the concern for Samiksha and Karan’s future had brought her to Rose.
“Please listen to my words with a cool mind. I know you might not like to have this conversation at all, but please.”
“You can talk,” was Rose’s blunt reply, regardless of Maria’s calm tone.

In the meantime, back at the office,

Samiksha and Karan talked happily about their future plans. Forgetting that his mom had called, Karan was completely lost, gazing at Samiksha.

After a while,

Karan spoke. “You know how beautiful you are?”
“Now you just keep quiet.”
She said with a blush on her cheeks.
“By the way, who had called up before? Was it Varsha?”
Karan was alarmed at the question, and he quickly said,
“Oh no! Mom was trying to contact me some time ago. Varsha called up for the same.”
He rushed out of the cabin before sending her a flying kiss.
Samiksha closed her eyes, interlocking her fingers for prayer, and just prayed to her universe,
‘Dear Universe, please make everything alright, please.’

Not to mention,

The atmosphere was tense at Karan’s home. Rose’s phone rang. It was Karan. She did not take the call.
“Yes, you wanted to say something?” she asked Maria coldly.
“We both are without the strongest support of our lives, Mr. Valenti. It was a coincidence that Karan and Samiksha met and later fell in love. We have been deprived of happiness at a very young age. Why should our kids suffer for a mistake they haven’t committed?” Maria told Rose with a serene tone.
Rose did not react at first.

“Madam, please think from their point of view.”
“Maria, the fact that Samiksha is your and my husband’s daughter is enough for me to reject any sort of relations with you people. I will never …”
“Samiksha isn’t my daughter, madam.”
Rose was taken aback by these words. Shockingly, she looked at her.
“She is an adopted child. We had brought her from an orphanage, hoping she would support me when I need one.”

Rose was still

in a shocked state of mind, as she had hated Samiksha for the fact that she was her husband’s and Maria’s daughter.
“Samiksha has found her first love, Karan. Don’t deprive her of this, madam.” Maria lost her control. She broke into tears, burying her face in her palms, sobbing for the grief her daughter might have to encounter.

Rose suddenly felt unfair toward Samiksha, even after not being aware of the truth of Samiksha’s birth. In the rage of her hatred towards Maria, she had hurt her son very profoundly. She learned how she had treated Samiksha and how she had broken her pure and loving heart, where Karan stayed.

She went towards Maria and kept her hand on her shoulder.
“Maria, can we forget everything. Let our kids be happy.”
Maria was speechless because of this gesture from Rose. She got up and embraced Rose.

The universe had accepted Samiksha’s prayer.

“Samiksha, I guess something is wrong. Mom isn’t taking my call. She was trying to contact me. I don’t know what might be the matter”, Karan spoke as soon as he entered Samiksha’s cabin.
“Relax. We both will go home and see what the matter is. Please calm down.”
Samiksha pacified him, and they both left for his home immediately.
