Spare The Moon

We damaged Mother Earth.
To the extent of irreparable depths.
It gave us shelter, food, and textiles.
But we are killing it slowly, with the speed of missiles.

Disturbing the environment cruelly with greed,
We are gulping down natural resources with an unstoppable speed.
The cries of nature go unheard by our ears filled with earbuds.
With 3D glasses on our eyes, we overlook the sea surface entirely of suds.

We are polluting the pious sea and rivers,
And disrupting lives in them.
Not concerned about anything else but us,
The generous nature has become a victim of us selfish creatures.

The once-upon-a-time blue skies are also not spared.

Clear, cottony clouds they once held.
Are now filled with the smoke from factories.
Suffocating the clouds are the rapidly rising industries.

Nature has enough for everyone, I heard once.
But we humans need everything in tonnes.
Satisfaction is not in our dictionary for us creatures.
We certainly can’t endure what nature suffers.

Animals search for their food.

But we humans search for animals indeed.
Make them suffer to satiate our tongues.
No doubt why corona attacked our most crucial organ, the lungs.

Relentlessly claiming the land for towers,
We are creating hurdles for the flying angels with 5G cables.
Making several homeless,
Can we build our homes filled with peace and happiness?

What have we not harmed on Earth?
From flowers for honey to silkworms for silk.
We separate a calf from its mother.
Just for milk?

After ruthlessly separating a chick from a hen,
Shamelessly, we hang pictures of mothers with children.
Along with cutting trees for wood, we run campaigns to save them too.
When conscience intervenes, we coldly question, “Who are you?”

We live on Earth, claiming everything on it as ours.

We do not bother to thank it even for a second, and I forget about hours.
Drilling its crust mercilessly for water,
Millions of speechless angels so easily we slaughter.

But what we sow, so shall we reap.
Nothing belongs to us, to own and keep.
We have touched every millimetre of Earth’s bit.
Used, harmed, claimed, and destroyed it.

Our evil eyes are on the Moon now.
Justifying our greed with words like technology and progress.
‘An Achievement’ is just a concealer of our real intentions.
Soon, like Earth, the Moon is also going to be a suffering mess.

Leave alone the Moons in the Solar System.

Let us rectify our sins and embrace some wisdom.
Nature will get back to us soon.
We have destroyed Mother Earth; now, let us at least spare the Moon.
