Once More

After a dashing performance, a roaring ‘Once more’ makes you feel on top of the world. A lover often says these two words to his/ her beloved to feel loved and wanted. The only time we get irritated is when our mother says, “I did not understand, dear. Will you explain once more?”

Recollect those moments when she used this phrase to better understand you and your words. It could have been while showing her a new recipe, during her hesitant entrance into the world of social media, while explaining to her what is going on on the television, or simply telling her what is going on in your mind. Sometimes, she fails to understand, and our response is sheer irritation and anger.

It is obvious. In our busy lives of securing our future by working, how can we spare two minutes to explain to her? A two-minute loss is equivalent to losing two clients. Can we afford it? No.

Now, let us recollect some childhood moments.

I am sure many of us don’t even remember those. Justified. They are neither profitable nor give us returns in terms of money. So why would we? Let me help you brush off the dust from a few of them. When we asked her, “Mom, what is this?” Her reply was always accompanied by a warm hug. After a few days, we again started asking the same question for the same thing. But her reply was again with the same warmth and smile. Also, whenever our fragile hands dropped anything, she picked it up, brushed it off with her sari’s pallu, and then handed it over to us. Not once, but several times, till our hands were strong enough to hold things.

The Mother Who Explained Small Details Ten Times When We Were Small Becomes Intolerable To Us At Her Queries In Our Adulthood

Now,

her request of ‘Once more’, annoys us to such an extent, that we tend to get angry or even shout at her. But her tolerance is still like a rock. We usually don’t remember her birth year while filling out a form. So we ask her every time we do this. She replies each time with the same calm and smile. Then why can’t we? It is very easy to run away, but difficult to face. Let us face these simple truths with a big heart. If we can master an application in minutes, why not have this patience?
